Phuket is the market a cautious buyer should look at first. It has the longest record of villa letting in the region, the most direct flights, the most professional management companies, and a resale market with real buyers in it. Nothing here is a bet on the future.
We stay on the quiet stretch of the west coast north of Kamala, where the beaches are long, the headlands are still forested and the guest who comes is the one who stays a fortnight.
