The covered terrace
From the gardenA white two-storey house on a walled plot, with the pool set between the house and a limestone feature wall, and a frangipani tree planted at the corner of the deck so that in a few years it will shade the water. A covered terrace with a rattan pendant runs off the living room, so the house effectively has a second sitting room outside.
The interior is the warm version of the Umalas palette: oak cabinetry, a dark granite island with bar stools, woven dining chairs under three rattan pendants, and a textured feature wall behind each bed. Steel-framed windows run floor to ceiling on the garden side; one of them is double height, with the upper landing looking down through it into the trees.
The master bathroom has twin stone basins under backlit oval mirrors and a freestanding bath beside a steel window. It is the detail every visitor asks about, so it is now in every house we build here.
